Rachakonda: The Commissioner of Police, Rachakonda, Mr. D.S. Chauhan, IPS, expressed his appreciation for the diligent efforts of the investigating team, led by Mr. B. Nehru, in detecting and apprehending the accused in Crime No. 455/2023, under Sections 467, 468, 471, 408, 420, 120(B) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Uppal Police Station. The case involved the creation of fake IPL cricket match tickets by copying the barcode from the access accreditation cards issued to the accused.

The team was under the guidance of Mr. R. Govinda Reddy, Inspector of Police, and the close supervision of Mr. P. Naresh Reddy, Asst. Commissioner of Police, Malkajgiri division, Mr. Dharavath Janaki IPS, DCP Malkajgiri Zone, and Mr. V. Sathyanarayana, IPS, Joint CP, Rachakonda. Their meticulous efforts led to the apprehension of all six accused persons and the seizure of incriminating evidence, including 68 fake tickets, three accreditation cards, six cell phones, and a CPU with a hard disc, monitor, and printer.

The accused Komatreddy Govardhan Reddy, was employed as a sub-contractor to Euphony Events & Entertainment vendor agency, responsible for providing manpower for events. He had hired Akheel Ahmed @ Pappu, Peggidi Mrudul Vamsi @ Chinnu, Iveli Sravan Kumar, and Mohammad Ajaj @ Asif as ticket validators for the IPL match, but they conspired to create fake tickets by copying the barcode from the accreditation card issued to them. Akheel Ahmed @ Pappu copied the barcode of Peggidi Mrudul Vamsi @ Chinnu ‘s accreditation card onto his cell phone and sent it to Mohammad Faheem, who runs a Xerox shop at Chikkadpally. Mohammad Faheem in turn, provided the sample template of the ticket used for printing, and together, they created around 200 fake IPL match tickets for the SRS Vs Mumbai Indians match, held on 18.04.2023. Some of these tickets were sold to unsuspecting cricket fans for illegal amounts of money.

The Commissioner of Police emphasized the importance of cracking down on black ticketing individuals, vendors who misuse their accreditation cards, and those who allow spectators to enter by impersonation. He warned that stringent action would be taken against them to ensure that such illegal activities do not continue to occur. The entire team was appreciated for their active role in bringing the accused to justice, and their sustained efforts in detecting the case were commended.
