Wayanad: In the heart of the Mundakolli section along the Bathery-Ooty interstate highway, a family of nine from Thalassery, including children, found themselves stranded in the middle of the night after their vehicle broke down on a jungle trail notorious for wild animals such as tigers and wildebeest. Faced with panic and desperation, they sought help from passersby, only to be ignored due to the fear of encountering dangerous wildlife. As the family trembled in their car, uncertain of their fate, a glimmer of hope emerged in the form of a beacon light from a patrolling traffic police vehicle belonging to the Bateri station.
Upon learning about the family’s predicament, the police discovered that the vehicle was damaged, and passersby were hesitant to stop, fearing the presence of wild animals. Despite the family’s reluctance to abandon their vehicle on the road, the police assured them of their safety and initiated efforts to repair the car. With all the lights of the police vehicle illuminating the area, the officers cautiously monitored for any signs of wild animals. After a dedicated two-hour endeavor, the traffic police successfully repaired the vehicle, allowing the relieved nine-member family from Thalassery to continue their journey to safety.
Namshil, a Thalassery native, expressed gratitude and shared their story of being stranded on Kanana road while returning from Ooty. The family managed to overcome the challenging situation, reaching their destination safely, and extended heartfelt thanks to the Bathery Traffic Police. SIPR Vijayan, driver SPO Suresh Kumar, and CPO Nijo played key roles in the police team that ensured the family’s successful rescue and repair of their vehicle.
