Five divisions of the Kerala Police have received the 2021 Smart Policing Award given by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI). Special Jury Award also goes to Kerala Police. DIG Rajpal Meena of the Armed Police Battalion received the awards at a ceremony held in New Delhi.
Chiri, an online helpline project, received the Smart Policing Award in the category of ensuring child safety. CHIRI is a program that provides counseling to children suffering from mental stress through telephone. Through this project many children have been able to get relief through online counseling during COVID.
In the community policing section, Kerala Police Assistant, a chat bot service, in the emergency response section in disaster areas, a specially formed disaster and emergency response system, in the training section, mindful life management and other police initiatives, the Center for Employee Enhancement and Development were eligible for the award.
Kerala Police also received the Special Jury Award in the category of Smart Innovative Policing in consideration of the implementation achievements of the Kerala Police in various fields.
