Tamil Nadu, Dindigul, April 17, 2025: In a commendable move to protect wildlife, the Forest Protection Force, in coordination with Sirumalai Forest Guards, arrested two individuals involved in the illegal trade of green parrots during a routine patrol near Thangam Lodge, Dindigul.
The accused, identified as Kalpana and her son Pandi from Dharapuram, were allegedly capturing and selling green parrots—a protected species under the Wildlife Protection Act. Acting promptly, forest officials seized eight live parrots, along with cages, nets, and other equipment used for trapping the birds.
The department has imposed fines on the offenders and launched a detailed investigation into the matter. This proactive enforcement highlights the forest department’s ongoing commitment to preserving wildlife and curbing illegal animal trade.
Officials have urged the public to support conservation efforts and report any wildlife crimes to the nearest forest office or helpline.
