Palakkad: Former Inspector General of Kerala Police Mr. VN Rajan (98), who served during 1974-78, has passed away.
Mr. Rajan served as IG in Kerala during the Emergency and later as the Director of the National Institute of Criminology and Forensic Science from 1979 to 1982. He started his career by achieving IPS with 14th rank while working in the office of the Union Ministry of Finance. He launched khaki uniform as ASP in Tirukoilur, part of Madras State.
During his lifetime Mr. VN Rajan wrote several books on ‘Victimology in India’, ‘Perspective Beyond Frontiers’ and ‘Vider Criminal Justice Policy’. Mr. Rajan has participated in many international seminars and VN Rajan is also known as the Father of Indian Victimology.
