<![CDATA[The Gautam Budh Nagar police told that four persons were arrested from Jewar in Greater Noida on Wednesday for looting a truck loaded with silver worth Rs.3.5 crore on Yamuna Expressway on April 3. They claimed to have recovered 518 kg of the stolen 600 kg of silver. Hassim, Abdulla, Ashwani and Shoav wanted to sell the silver and go to Dubai. The courier company truck was transporting consignment belonging to several jewelers from Agra to Delhi at the time of the incident. The police told that the accused impersonated Sales Tax officials to loot the truck. A police officer told that the driver Amit Kumar and guard Satveer left with the consignment from Agra on April 3. They were near Jewar on Yamuna Expressway when the accused, who were in an MUV, waylaid the truck. The accused, who pretended to be Sales Tax officials from Delhi, asked the victims for consignment papers. Mr. Kumar showed the papers but the accused told him the documents were incomplete. The police added that the accused told the victims to get in their car so that they could be taken back to the Sales Tax office in Delhi. Three of the accused and the victims sat in the MUV, while the fourth accused followed them in the truck. The driver and guard alleged that the criminals snatched their mobile phones and valuables, and dumped them near ITO in Delhi before fleeing with the truck. A senior police officer told that the courier company registered a complaint. On Wednesday, we received a piece of confidential information stating that the accused were headed to Delhi via Noida from Aligarh in an MUV to sell the loot. A trap was laid and they were nabbed after a brief encounter near Jewar toll. They told the police during interrogation that they looted the truck as they wanted to go to Dubai. The police told that six more persons are accused in the case and will be arrested soon. The police have seized pistols, live cartridges, a knife, a police uniform and the car from the accused.]]>
