Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu: In a firm action to maintain public peace and order, the Tirunelveli City Police invoked the Goondas Prevention Act against three individuals involved in attempts to incite a caste-related disturbance in the Palayamkottai area.
The accused—Murugan (26), Manthiramoorthy (20), and Raja (26), all residents of Kakkan Nagar—were earlier arrested for their alleged role in disturbing communal harmony. Considering their continued involvement in activities prejudicial to law and order, Sekhar Deshmukh Sanjay ordered their preventive detention under the Act.
Following the order, the accused were lodged in the Palayamkottai Central Prison on March 25, 2026.
This decisive action highlights the police department’s zero-tolerance approach towards activities threatening social harmony and its commitment to ensuring a peaceful environment for the public.
