Gurugram: A 48-year-old man was reportedly beaten up by the staff at a restaurant located in Gurugram’s Old Railway Road area after he asked them to quickly pack his dinner on March 4, according to police officials. The incident left the man, identified as Krishna Kumar, with a broken femur in his right leg, the authorities stated. As per the police complaint, Kumar along with two friends had gone to the restaurant to get his dinner parceled. However, even after waiting for over 30 minutes, his order wasn’t packed, and upon asking the staff to hurry up, an argument broke out.
The argument soon turned into a scuffle, and several staff members reportedly attacked Kumar with wooden bats and rods, causing his femur to fracture. Following the assault, Kumar was thrown out on the road, and his family was informed about the incident. They took him to a government hospital in Sector 10A, where he underwent surgery and had a plate implanted to hold his femur in place. Though he was discharged on March 18, Kumar’s leg got infected, and he had to be re-admitted to the hospital on March 29. His worsening condition led him to be referred to a super speciality hospital in Jaipur on Monday night.
Kumar has accused the police team and restaurant staff of obtaining his signatures on blank paper when they visited him in the hospital. In light of Kumar’s complaint, the police registered an FIR against the unidentified restaurant staff under sections 323 and 325 of the Indian Penal Code for causing voluntary and grievous hurt. The victim’s brother has expressed concern over his sibling’s deteriorating health and said that they were on their way to Jaipur for further treatment. Meanwhile, Gurugram police officials have assured that Kumar’s friends would be questioned to identify the culprits, and appropriate action would be taken against them.
