Hyderabad, Telangana: In a major step towards ensuring public health and food safety, the Hyderabad City Police has launched the Hyderabad Food Adulteration Surveillance Team (H-FAST) to take strict action against food adulteration.
The initiative has been introduced under the leadership of V. C. Sajjanar, in coordination with Food Safety Officers, to strengthen enforcement and regulatory measures against unsafe food practices. The unit was formally inaugurated by Gaikwad Vaibhav Raghunath.
H-FAST is a specialized team comprising 28 personnel, including Inspectors, Sub-Inspectors, and supporting staff, dedicated to surveillance, detection, and prosecution of food adulteration offences. The team will carry out targeted raids and inspections in close coordination with food safety authorities to ensure effective enforcement.
To enhance public participation, a dedicated toll-free number (8712661212) has been introduced for citizens to report cases of food adulteration and unsafe food practices. Complaints can also be shared through official social media platforms, enabling quicker response and action.
Officials emphasized a zero-tolerance approach towards food adulteration, stating that strict legal action will be taken against violators. The initiative highlights the police department’s commitment to safeguarding public health and ensuring the availability of safe food for all citizens.
