New Delhi: The Delhi Police has made elaborate arrangements for the 73rd Independence Day celebrations to prevent any untoward incidents from occurring as there had been an increased threat perception in the wake of the Kashmir crisis. A senior police officer said as the threat perception on August 15 is high due to the prevailing situation precautionary measures has been taken by taking the necessary tie-ups with the crack units like National Security Guard, Special Protection Group and Indo-Tibetan Border Police. The Police officer said, in accordance with the security arrangements that have been put in place which is multi-level in nature include the deployment of 20,000 Delhi Police officers and all the security agencies will be working in close relationship with each other. The SWAT teams and Parakram vans also have been strategically stationed. The State police have also initiated the installation of over 1,000 cameras across the districts. At strategic locations special facial-recognition cameras have also been installed. Other security teams such as Anti-drone detection teams, rooftop deployment and snipers have also been put in place. Importance has been given to the aerial space over Red Fort as the Security Officers will also ensure that it remains clear. Metal detectors were also used for the Multi-layer checking during the Independence Day function. The Police officer said in addition to the security arrangements at the main venue at Red Fort, sufficient security arrangements for the function at the Rashtrapati Bhawan have also been organized. A citywide alert had been exercised by the DCPs of all districts. A high level of surveillance has been put in place at the route to Red Fort and the route through which the VIPs and dignitaries will cross.]]>
