Rachakonda: CP Mr. Mahesh M Bhagwat IPS has commended the services and efforts of Home Guards on the 59th Rising Day of Home Guards celebrated at CPO Rachakonda, Neredmet on Monday 6th. December 2021. On the occasion, 19 Home Guards were felicitated and received rewards from the Hon’ble CP for their good work performed in the duties.
Addressing the media CP stated that Home Guards are an integral part of the Indian Internal security system. He mentioned that initially “Home Guards” is a voluntary citizen’s force that was later adopted by several Indian States. CP stated that Home Guards have been assisting Police Department in the maintenance of Law and Order and helping in keeping the society peaceful since independence. “Though “Home Guards” is a voluntary force initially, it assisted the Police department during controlling civil disturbance and communal riots,” he added.
He stated that the state government is providing good salaries and facilities to the Home Guards in the state. He advised all the Home Guards to keep committed towards duty and perform responsibilities flawlessly. CP warned everyone to stay away from corruption. CP specially mentioned that Home Guards performed duties tirelessly during COVID Pandemic and some donated blood to the victims in need. CP commended the Home Guards for saving the lives of people who attempted to commit suicide while performing duties at Lakes in the city. CP advised the Home Guards to utilize the opportunity correctly to work with the Police department.
Speaking on the occasion, DCP. Ms. Rakshitha K Murthy IPS stated that Home Guards are assisting the Police department well and playing a vital role in keeping the society peaceful. She extended her wishes to the Home Guards who received rewards on the occasion.
During the inaugural note of DCP Admin, Mrs. K. Shilpavalli stated that Home Guards were initially raised in erstwhile Bombay Province in 1946. In the wake of Chinese aggression in 1962, the Centre advised the States and Union Territories to merge their existing voluntary organizations into one uniform voluntary force known as Home Guards, she added. Hence 6th December every year is celebrated across the country as Raising Day of the organization. She said that in addition to the prime security wings like Army, Navy, Air Force, and other agencies, Home Guards were brought to action to assist the Police department amid emergency situations. Over a period of time, Home Guards provided their services during natural disasters, Fire emergencies, air-raid, cyclones, earthquakes, epidemics, etc. She commended the services of all Home Guards and advised them to adhere to the responsibilities assigned by the higher officials.
DCP (Crimes) Mr. Yadagiri and Addl. DCP Mr. Shameer was also present at the occasion and congratulated the winners.
