Telangana, Hyderabad City: Under the directives of the Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad City, a meeting was organized by the DCP of North Zone with the owners and managers of lodges and hotels located within the jurisdiction of all police stations in the North Zone. The purpose was to provide specific instructions regarding the lawful operation of these establishments, in accordance with the Telangana State Public Safety Act, trade license regulations, and BNSS. Over 200 hotel and lodge owners/managers attended the meeting, along with ACPs and SHOs from the North Zone of Hyderabad City Police.

It is important to note that a particular establishment, ‘Metropolis’ Hotel, located under the limits of Gopalapuram Police Station, was recently found to be hosting large gatherings for a month, with participants from various states. One of the participants is an accused in Cr. No. 234/2024, involved in a recent incident of desecrating the Muthyalamma Temple. The event was organized by Mr. Munawar Zama, who gathered around 151 individuals and claimed to be conducting English-speaking and personality development classes at the hotel. Over 50 rooms were rented out for the event, but neither the organizer nor the hotel management sought permission or informed local authorities about the gathering. Consequently, the decision was made to suspend the trade license of Hotel Metropolis, and the premises are being sealed as per legal procedures by the relevant authorities. A case has also been filed under Cr. No. 349/2024 at Gopalapuram Police Station against both the organizer and the hotel management.

During the meeting with the lodge owners, they were advised to take necessary precautions in the regular operation of their establishments. Failure to comply, especially when public safety is at risk, would lead to strict action against the management. Key instructions included maintaining a proper visitor register and promptly submitting daily entries to the local SHO. Additionally, a record of ID proofs of all guests must be kept for easy reference. Compliance with the Public Safety Act, including CCTV installation with backup, was emphasized. The management must also inform local police and obtain mandatory permissions for any commercial event held on the premises. Furthermore, if any illegal activities, such as prostitution or drug peddling, were found on the premises, the management would be held accountable. Lastly, they were advised to ensure the presence of sufficient security measures, such as DFMD/HHMD devices and security personnel.
