People take loans from any unauthorized lenders for urgent needs. When getting a loan through loan applications, the loan applications access all the functions of the smartphone including contact numbers, camera, photo and location.
If the loan is not repaid within the specified date or if they are unable to pay the fixed interest amount, all the contacts will send us the photos of the borrowers and send information that they have defaulted on the loan. Apart from that, many people are suffering from mental distress due to constant inappropriate words and harassment by asking them to pay back the money.
It is a common practice to get scammed by giving friend requests to unknown people on social networking sites and making acquaintances with previously unknown friends.
Likewise, government officials are also being victimized by cybercrime in Theni district. Their superiors open accounts on fake social networking sites and order the government officials to send money in the same message as their superiors. Believing that, the government officials think that their superiors are asking for money and immediately pay the money through UPI. Once he made a payment through UPI, the money kept getting stolen from his bank account.
