Cachar: The Special Task Force (STF) of Assam and Cachar District Police has seized 21 kgs of heroin which is valued at Rs 210 crore.
The massive operation was led by Mr. Partha Sarathi Mahanta, Inspector General of Police (STF), and Mr. Numal Mahatta, the Superintendent of Police of Cachar District. The officials apprehended one individual in connection to the seizure. Acting on specific inputs, the STF intercepted a vehicle with registration number MZ 01 7204 near the Sayeedpur area under the Silchar police station in Cachar district.
IGP Mahanta said that the information was received 10 days ago that a huge consignment of drugs would be carried from a neighbouring state to the mainland and from here it could be supplied in two big cities. Commending the police force for their swift action, the Chief Minister of Assam Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma appreciated the operation for the massive success on war against drugs in Assam.
