The highly trained H-NEW (Hyderabad narcotics enforcement Wing) and NISW(Narcotics Investigation supervision wing), instated in 2022, busted many inter- state drug peddler gangs and also arrested International drug peddler Nicolas Olusola Rotimy alias Toni by developing the informant network. Around 124 kilograms of Ganja, 5.4 kg of hash oil, 116 Isd blots, 25 gram MDMA, 10 ectasy pills, 75 grams of Heroine etc., were seized. 124 peddlers, 96 consumers and 4 transporters were arrested. PD Act has been invoked on 12 persons based on the proposals received from various wings.

The commissioner’s task force raided more than 40 high-end pubs and star hotels and maintains “strict surveillance”. The managements of bars and pubs were also apprised to conduct their businesses in a responsible manner to safeguard the image of the city.

City police also entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with private and government institutions to help the drug addicts come out of the habit permanently and a rehabilitation monitoring team has been formed by drawing officers from HCP who also act as change agents. “Drug abuse affects individual’s development, health and disrupts social harmony. We need to spread awareness in this regard.” said CP Mr. Anand.

Plan of Action for the Future:

The Hyderabad City Police and H-NEW plans to start Anti-Drug Committees on the lines of Anti Ragging Committees, in each and every college, University, Intermediate Colleges and also the High Schools in this academic session of 2022-2023. These Anti-Drug Committees will be responsible for monitoring the use and peddling of Drug in these premises, hostels etc., of those educational institutions.

To spread awareness about the ill effects of Drugs through a widespread campaign of education through all available Social fora, Institutions etc.

HCP aims at enhancing better coordination with National agencies like NCB, DRI, Customs, IB and ED etc., to track down Narcotics smuggling and peddling gangs and control the in-flow and spread into India.

DCP H-NEW and Taskforce, Mr. Chakravarthy; Inspectors and other officers participated in the rally.
