Hyderabad City: In compliance to the instructions of Mr. CV Anand, IPS., Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad City, on 4.10.2022 at 11.00 hours, Mr. A.V. Ranganath, IPS., Jt. Commissioner of Police, Traffic, Hyderabad City convened a Joint meeting with Chief City Planner of GHMC and their Zonal/Circle level city planners as part of the ongoing “ROPE” Removal of Obstructive Parking and Encroachments.
In his opening remarks Mr. A.V. Ranganath, IPS., Jt. CP Traffic informed the objective of this joint meeting and briefed them about operation “ROPE”. He further requested the officers to explain root level issues leading to traffic congestion resulted by unauthorized parking/encroachments on carriage way/footpath.
Mr. Devender Reddy, Chief City Planner, GHMC and other City Planning officers explained gross root level issues and expressed that they can be overcome through coordination of City Planning officers and Hyderabad Traffic officers.
In this meeting it was discussed in detail about the remedial measures to be taken at Junctions, Bus Bays and providing better infrastructure by involving Engineering wing of GHMC to prevent Traffic Congestion. During the discussions the regulations related to Parking issued was thoroughly studied and explained to all the officers of Traffic Police and GHMC.
The following decisions were taken:
Joint Identification of congestion/encroachment spots for removal of road obstructions, ensuring carriage way free from encroachments, setting back of hawkers behind the white line and identifying the locations/open areas in the circle, zonal level to relocate the hawkers to prevent traffic congestion.
Single line ON street parking at establishments wherever road width permits and creating awareness to the establishment owners to provide parking places to their customers by showing videos/photos of vehicles causing traffic obstruction in front of their shops.
Field level officers of Traffic Police and GHMC to conduct special drives against the establishments for encroaching the footpath obstructing the free passage of pedestrians and for misuse of cellars of the buildings.
Identifying the feasible areas for on street/off street parking areas.
Identifying and shifting of Bus Stops, Auto Parking places, Hawkers nearer to the Junctions which are causing traffic congestion.
Fixing of Cameras at the regular congestion places to identify the root of the problem and for fixing up the concerned and booking of cases.
In this meeting Mr. Devender Reddy, Chief City Planner, GHMC, Mr. P. Karunakar, DCP Traffic, II, Mr. S. Ranga Rao, Addl. DCP Tr.I, Mr. K.Prasad, Addl. DCP Tr.II, Zonal and Circle level City Planners and Hyderabad Traffic Police Officers participated in this meeting.
