Hyderabad City, Telangana: Hyderabad City Police Commissioner Mr. V. C. Sajjanar, IPS, emphasized the need for a paradigm shift in tackling cybercrime and financial fraud during a courtesy meeting with the RBI Governor and Deputy Governor Mr. Swaminathan at the RBI Hyderabad Regional Office on December 19, 2025.

Highlighting the crucial role of the Reserve Bank of India in safeguarding public savings, the Commissioner described mule accounts as the “oxygen” of cybercrime and stressed the urgent need to curb their misuse. He proposed the implementation of a mule-hunter tool, the creation of a centralized database to track mule accounts, and stricter KYC norms and due diligence by banks. He also underlined the importance of faster sharing of technical and banking data to strengthen investigations and ensure timely action against cyber offenders.
