Hyderabad: On 02-07-2024, the Commissioners Task Force, South-East Zone Task Force Team, along with Bandlaguda Police, apprehended a serial housebreaking offender who committed ten night-time housebreaking offenses within the Hyderabad and Rachakonda Commissionerates. The accused, identified as Mohammed Saleem alias Sunil Shetty alias Ibrahim alias Setty Saleem, son of the late Mohammed Jahangir, aged 51, is a resident of Hyderabad. He has ten previous cases filed against him at Balapur Police Station, Chandrayangutta Police Station, and Bandlaguda Police Station. The police seized gold ornaments weighing approximately 292 grams and silver ornaments weighing approximately 1090 grams, with a total estimated value of Rs.22,00,000.
The accused, Mohammed Saleem alias Sunil Shetty alias Ibrahim alias Setty Saleem, a resident of Ismail Nagar, Bandlaguda, Hyderabad, works as a vegetable vendor and wall painter. He is a habitual housebreaking offender with a history of involvement in 150 housebreaking cases since 1992. In May 2023, he was arrested by Falaknuma Police Station and sent to judicial custody. He was released from jail in December 2023 and, while residing in the Bandlaguda area, committed ten night-time housebreaking offenses in the jurisdictions of Chandrayangutta, Bandlaguda, and Balapur Police Stations, and had been absconding since the offenses.
After his release from jail, he continued to reside in the Bandlaguda area, earning his livelihood by wall painting and selling vegetables from a pushcart. While selling vegetables on the streets, he identified locked houses and targeted them during late-night hours. He used cutting pliers and screwdrivers to break locks and latches. After committing the thefts, he returned to his residence with the stolen property, which he later disposed of to fulfill his needs and lead a lavish lifestyle.
Based on credible information, the Commissioners Task Force, South-East Zone Team, and Bandlaguda Police team worked together to track and apprehend him. During the investigation, the accused confessed to committing the offenses. The operation was conducted under the supervision of Mr. Ande Srinivasa Rao, Addl. Dy. Commissioner of Police, Task Force, Hyderabad, and Mr. D. Venkat Reddy, Inspector of Police, South-East Zone Task Force, along with SI’s Sk. Kaviuddin, P. Sairam, C. Raghavendra Reddy, PC Nayeem Khan, and the team of South-East Zone Task Force and Bandlaguda Police.
