Hyderabad, Telangana: Hyderabad Police Commissioner Mr. CV Anand has been awarded the “Excellence in Anti-Narcotics Award” at the World Police Summit 2025, held in Dubai from May 13 to 16. Representing the Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW), Anand received the top honor for the department’s proactive measures in combating drug trafficking and consumption within the city.
The award recognizes H-NEW’s comprehensive approach over the past three years, which includes awareness programs targeting students and the general community, as well as significant achievements in curbing narcotics-related activities.
At the awards ceremony held at the Dubai Police Officers Club, Anand expressed his gratitude to his team and highlighted the significance of the recognition. He noted that police forces from 138 countries participated in the summit, making the award a matter of pride not only for the Telangana police but for the entire Indian law enforcement community.
Anand attributed the success to the innovative work practices adopted by H-NEW in controlling narcotics. He emphasized the importance of continued efforts in drug prevention and enforcement to ensure the safety and well-being of the community.
During a panel discussion preceding the awards function, Anand discussed the challenges India faces concerning narcotics post-COVID-19, including the methods of drug entry into the country, the apprehension of various gangs and peddlers, monitoring educational institutions through anti-drug committees, awareness campaigns, and rehabilitation measures.
