<![CDATA[As many as 2,500 police personnel would be deployed to provide security for 11th Indian Premier League (IPL) matches scheduled at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium at Uppal between April 9 and May 19. Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mr.Mahesh M. Bhagwat told that elaborate security arrangements were made for the matches and 1,038 law and order personnel, 329 from traffic wing and six platoons from Armed Reserves would be deployed at the stadium. Police from different wings including Octopus, mounted police, Special Branch and CCS would also be drafted to maintain law and order. Hundred surveillance cameras have been installed in and around the stadium, which would be monitored by a team of policemen at a joint command and control room. To control incidents of eve-teasing and keep a watch on the movement of the cheer girls, dedicated SHE teams will also be deployed. He told that the stadium has a seating capacity of 38,000. Measures will be taken to avoid any untoward incidents during the match. The Commissioner told that bomb disposal teams and sniffer dogs were also pressed into service, apart from a special team to check the movements of “anti-social elements.” Heavy goods vehicles from LB Nagar and Warangal routes shall not be allowed towards Habsiguda during the match timings.]]>
