Kakinada: During the second day of the Sankranti festival in Kakinada district, an extensive crackdown by the police persisted at chicken fairs. Despite the stringent restrictions imposed by the district police, there was blatant defiance in the form of anti-law camps such as Gundata and Pekata, organized at various chicken race venues across different parts of the district.
The Peddapuram sub-division witnessed the focused efforts of special police teams as they dismantled barula camps in specific locations, including Neeladriraopeta village in Gandepalli mandal and Lingamparthi village in Eleshwaram mandal. These actions were taken to curb illegal activities associated with betting at these events.
The law enforcement’s proactive stance on targeting and disbanding illegal betting camps reflects an ongoing commitment to maintaining order and upholding the rule of law in the district. It has been explicitly stated that these raids and operations against such illicit activities will persist into the foreseeable future, emphasizing a sustained effort to eradicate unauthorized gambling practices in the region.
