Odisha, Ganjam, May 3 – In a remarkable display of preventive policing, Ganjam Police launched a special overnight drive targeting illegal firearms and organized crime, leading to the arrest of 18 accused, including members of a criminal syndicate.
The operation resulted in the seizure of 17 illegal firearms and 66 live bullets, marking a significant step in curbing gun-related crime in the region. For the first time in the district, the arrested individuals have been booked under Section 111 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS)—a notable move under the revised legal framework to ensure stronger action against organized criminal activities.
