Gwalior: To ensure a peaceful conduct of the upcoming assembly elections, Superintendent of Police Mr. Rajesh Singh Chandel has directed all police station in-charges in the Gwalior district to take decisive action against incidents involving gunfire, illegal weapons, and the distribution of illicit liquor/narcotics. Subsequently, the Superintendent of Police received intelligence on November 9 from an informant, indicating that a member of the Dudhia gang would be arriving in Gwalior city from Jhansi bypass Niravali Tiraha with a consignment of illegal weapons.
The individual planned to distribute these weapons to gang members to influence the elections through acts of firing, creating an atmosphere of fear, and potentially inciting a gang war. Acting on this information, Superintendent of Police Gwalior, along with Additional Superintendent of Police City (East/Crime/Traffic) Mr. Rishikesh Meena and Additional Superintendent of Police City (North) Mr. Amrit Meena, formed a joint team comprising the Crime Branch and Old Cantonment Police Station to verify the information and take appropriate action. Following the instructions of senior officers, DSP Crime Mr. Shiaz K.M., under the guidance of CSP Maharajpura/DSP Crime II, Mr. Nagendra Singh Sikarwar, the joint team, led by Crime Branch Inspector Mr. Amar Singh Sikarwar and Old Cantonment Police Station Incharge Inspector Mr. Rajkumar Sharma, was dispatched near Niravali Tiraha for action. Upon reaching the location, the police team observed an individual matching the informant’s description walking with a bag. The team surrounded and apprehended the suspicious person, who revealed he hailed from village Dadumar, police station Bhitarwar, district Gwalior, and resided in Koteshwar Colony, Gwalior Hall. A search of the bag yielded one 32 bore revolver, seven Desikatta 315 bore, one Adhiya 315 bore, and seven live rounds.
Upon interrogation, the arrested individual admitted to bringing the illegal weapons from Jhansi (Uttar Pradesh) for the Dudhiya gang, intending to use them to intimidate voters through gunfire during the elections. The accused further disclosed an ongoing rivalry between the Dudhia gang and another Triple Zero gang, leading him to supply weapons to strengthen his gang. Numerous criminal cases, including firing, attempted murder, SCST Act, and Arms Act violations, have been registered against the arrested individual and other members of his family, who also have a history of serious criminal charges.
