North and Middle Andaman: In a swift and efficient operation conducted on March 29, 2024, the Kalighat Police successfully confiscated a significant quantity of illicit liquor in a dense forest near Parangara Village, North & Middle Andaman. Acting promptly on a tip, SI Ashok Kumar Baghel, SHO of Kalighat Police Station, formed a specialized team comprising ASI Mukesh Charan, in charge of OP Kishorinagar, and PCs Ripon Mistry and Irenious. This proactive team effectively seized 07 liters of illicit liquor and 120 liters of Lehan, along with various utensils and articles used in the production process, clandestinely hidden within the jungle. Subsequently, the team destroyed 120 liters of confiscated Lehan and other preparation-related articles on-site. The seized illicit liquor was transported to the Police Station, and a case under Excise Regulation has been registered. The entire operation was conducted under the vigilant supervision of Mr. Brij Mohan Meena, DANIPS, SDPO Diglipur, and under the overall direction and supervision of Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, Superintendent of Police, N&M Andaman District.
