Uttarakhand, Dehradun, May 8, 2025: In a focused effort to enhance cyber awareness and inter-agency coordination, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Dehradun, conducted an informative session for the trainee cadets of the Indian Military Academy (IMA). The interaction was aimed at sensitizing future military officers to the growing challenges posed by cybercrime and promoting safe digital practices.
During the session, the SSP provided an in-depth overview of the rising incidence of cybercrimes, highlighting real-world cases and the evolving nature of cyber threats. Cadets were briefed on safe and responsible use of social media platforms, with a special focus on preventing honey traps, identity theft, and financial scams.
The cadets were also introduced to the functioning of the Police Control Room (PCR) and the critical role it plays in emergency response and maintaining law and order. The SSP emphasized the importance of seamless coordination between the police and armed forces, particularly in matters of internal security, intelligence sharing, and rapid response to crises.
The session included a discussion on emerging trends in cyber fraud, including phishing, malware attacks, and fraudulent digital transactions. Practical advice was shared on personal data protection, recognizing suspicious digital behavior, and reporting mechanisms.
The initiative reflects a growing acknowledgment of the need for interdisciplinary collaboration in safeguarding national security in the digital era. The cadets expressed appreciation for the valuable insights and pledged to remain vigilant in their digital conduct.
