Chennai: Chennai Tamil Nadu DGP Mr.C. Sylendra Babu IPS, 1310 accused have been arrested in the last 48 hours across Tamil Nadu through Operation Minnal Vedati. Among those arrested, 221 raiders were absconders and 110 had pending arrest warrants. Many of the arrested raiders have been sent to jail. Police took good conduct pledges from the rest of the accused.
After this they should write to the police that they will not engage in any criminal activities. Thus the police are empowered to imprison them when they violate their promise. A total of 331 accused have been jailed. Out of those caught, 979 accused were given good conduct pledges. If they violate the pledge of good conduct, they will be jailed for six months.
