Hyderabad: In view of the recent security lapses in Punjab, Telangana police have deployed at least 7,000 police personnel, including central teams, as part of security arrangements for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit.
As a precautionary measure in the wake of the Prime Minister’s unveiling of the 216-foot-tall Ramanuja statue at Jeeva Sri Rama Nagar in Muchhinthal, a special road link has been set up from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGAI) to Muchhinthal.
The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) officials, in consultation with state police officials and senior security officials, provided the Prime Minister with route maps and security arrangements. There were also reports that PMO officials had issued appropriate security instructions after the Punjab incident.
The trial run of vehicle convoys and helicopters took place twice on Thursday from RGIA to Muchhinthal. Authorities also collected a weather report by police after the helicopter trial. A three-tier security system has been set up at the Jeeva Ashram and the police will closely monitor the area in view of the Prime Minister’s visit, sources said.
It was also reported that the Telangana police had provided a list of those attending the Prime Minister’s function in Muchhinthal and that the police officials had sent the details of the guests to the PMO for their consideration.
The Jeeva Ashram will be fully taken over by the Prime Minister’s Security Forces and coordinated with the Prime Minister’s Security Division by an IPS officer from the state.
Authorities planted trees and set up welcome boards on either side of the newly laid connecting road from the RGIA to the Outer Ring Road (ORR) to get to Muchintal.
