Kohima: The Tourist Police Emergency Helpline Number- 112 was inaugurated by Mr. T John Longkumer IPS, DGP, Nagaland by making a call over the Dedicated Digital Wireless Channel to the Wireless Operator stationed in the Hornbill Police Station, Kisama, the main venue of the Hornbill Festival 2021. He encouraged the Tourist Police personnel to discharge their responsibilities with sincerity and politeness. He also made a mention that the Tourist Police performed exceedingly well during the last Hornbill Festival 2019. He further encouraged the Tourist Police personnel to perform even better during the ensuing Hornbill Festival 2021.
Mr. S Changkei Konyak IPS, DIG, Communication chaired the inaugural program. He also presented a brief on the Tourist Police Emergency Helpline Number-112. He stated that 112 was an All India Emergency Helpline Number to which an additional provision was integrated for communication of the Tourist Police in the form of a Dedicated Digital Wireless Channel. Any tourist emergency call to 112 would be further transmitted to Tourist Police over the Dedicated Channel for necessary action by the Tourist Police deployed in different locations of Kohima and beyond.
