<![CDATA[Indian women’s cricket captain Ms. Mithali Raj pledged to be available in any way to help the cause of the police saying her job was far more easier than the challenges the cops face in safeguarding the life and property of the citizens. Flagging off the audio visual vans at The DGP office here on Thursday, which would tour the Telangana districts to promote the second Indian Police Martyrs’ Memorial Run to be held by the Telangana police on October 15, Mithali said she read a lot about the sacrifices made by the Indian soldiers in protecting the borders, but it was a revelation after the visit to the DGP office to know the kind of struggle the cops face in discharging their duties round the clock. The run would be held from People’s Plaza from 6.00 a.m. featuring 10K, 5K and 2K categories. “I feel honoured and privileged to be associated with the campaign and like any other commoner, I too was not fully aware of the achievers in the Police Department. Sincerely, I take pride in being associated with this cause and will help in whatever way I can to let the police get the recognition they deserve,” Mithali said. DGP Anurag Sharma reminded that every year, about 500 cops lose their life on duty and that the Telangana government has been magnanimous in giving a compensation of ₹40 lakh to the constables and ₹1 crore to the top police officers who sacrificed their life on duty. “The objective of organising the martyrs’ run is to acknowledge their services and hope the response will be much bigger this time around, even as the first edition was itself a huge success,” the DGP told, after launching the website of the martyrs’ run. City Police Commissioner Mr. Mahender Reddy launched the Facebook page of the run and Mr. M. Gopi Krishna, IPS, launched its Twitter page.]]>
