Thrissur Rural: Despite changing numbers, clothes, and routes multiple times, the capture of Viruthan occurred. He was apprehended for snatching a gold necklace from an elderly woman in Iringalakuda, specifically in Kattoor Edathirinny. Sarosh, a 28-year-old individual hailing from Vadakara Kannukkara, was detained by Thrissur Rural SP. Acting upon Ms. Aishwarya Dongre’s recommendation, Iringalakuda DYSP, TK Shaiju, and Kattoor Inspector Jayesh Balan took part in the arrest. On the third day of the current month, the accused rode on a scooter and forcibly grabbed the gold necklace, weighing around three pawans, from a 65-year-old woman in Etathirinyi, near her residence. The sudden attack caused injuries to the victim, who cried out in fear, but the culprit managed to escape on the scooter. Learning about the incident, the police launched an intensive investigation.
The accused, who worked in Bangalore and had returned home the previous month, admitted during interrogation that financial losses from online trading led him to commit theft. Sarosh left home on the second day of the current month, equipped with various shirts, vests, and masks, and traveled to Kozhikode. His intention was to steal a two-wheeler for the necklace heist. By a stroke of luck, he found an unattended scooter with keys in it near a doctor’s house and used it to escape. He journeyed through different locations, frequently changing his appearance and the scooter’s identification. Despite his attempts to avoid detection through attire changes, the persistent efforts of the police paid off after seven days. The police team apprehended him in Kannukkara on a Thursday morning, using information gathered from his movements during the night.
During interrogation, the accused admitted to his actions and questioned the police about their ability to apprehend him despite his precautions. He worked as a medical assistant at the Air Force Hospital in Bangalore, securing a job at a young age, but incurred substantial financial losses through online trading. After stealing the necklace, he traveled to Aluva railway station and abandoned the scooter there before proceeding to Vadakara to sell the stolen item. The investigation team successfully recovered both the gold necklace and the scooter. Notably, the suspect even consumed food intended for the scooter’s owner, showcasing the audacity of his actions. Crossing two hundred kilometers from his hometown, he arrived in Kalavin. The investigation team, led by Rural SP, received special commendation for their work, managing to capture the suspect within seven days.
Upon the police team’s arrival, the man was found playing an online game while lying on a bed. Under the guidance of Iringalakuda DYSP TK Shaiju and Kattoor Inspector Jayesh Balan, officers including S.A. M. Habib, A.S.I. KS Sreejith, Sr. CPO PT Vijayan, E.S. Jeevan, CG Dhanesh, VS Shyam, KS.
