Rachakonda: On 20.9.2022 at 2300 hours, received a complaint from the complaint Mr. Thalluri Venkateshwar Rao(49) S/o. Ramaiah, Occ: Business, r/o. VV Nagar, Saroornagar, Hyderabad wherein he stated that he acquainted with one Mahesh at Lakdikapul, and since then Mahesh used to visit his house at Saroornagar. About 10 days back Mahesh informed the complainant that he knows some persons who are having 1.5 kg gold and wishes to dispose it off at cheaper rate and told that, if he is interested, can arrange 60 lakhs amount. Believing the words of Mahesh the complainant arranged the money Rs.60 lakhs for 1.5 Kg Gold. On 20.09.2022 at 0900 hours Mahesh made a phone call to the complainant and said that he will meet him at Dilsukhnagar Metro Station. At 1500 hours on that day, he again called told that he is sending two persons with 1.5 kg Gold. Later two unknown persons went to the complainant’s house with one suitcase. They counted the amount Rs.60 lakhs and kept in the black bag and locked it, then, they talked to him for few minutes and gave the bag to the complainant and told that they will come back with 1.5 kg gold, left the house and did not return. On suspicion the complainant called Mahesh but his number was switched off, when he opened the bag, he noticed that the cash is replaced with yellow and pink color paper bundles. Thus, Mahesh and two unknown persons cheated him by diverting his attention and took the money Rs.60 lakhs.
Mr. Thalluri Venkateshwar Rao lodged a complaint at Saroor Nagar Police Station, Rachakonda. Based on the complaint a case was registered and taken up for investigation.
On credible information today on 27.9.2022 in the morning hours, the SOT LB Nagar Zone Team and Saroornagar Police surprised the house of Mahesh at Vidyanagar, Nallakunta, Hyderabad and arrested the 8 accused and seized Rs.45.10 Lakh from their possession and other incriminating material mentioned below.
The accused persons were identified as Gajjela Mahesh(35) S/o. Durgaiah, R/o. Hyderabad; Mohd Riyaz Anil(30) S/o. Yakub Ali, r/o. Warangal; Iragadindla Vanesh Kumar alias Raja Reddy(47) S/o. Venkateshwarlu, R/o. Andhra Pradesh. Previously he was involved in (11) similar cases. A suspect sheet is being maintained at Vedullapalli Police Station, Bapatla, Andhra Pradesh; Karri Kanaka Rao alias Kanaka Raju alias Stephen Raju(52) S/o. Raju, R/o: Visakhapatnam. Previously he was involved in 5 similar cases, a suspect sheet is being maintained at Airport Police Station, Vizag, Andhra Pradesh; Contractor(40), R/o Vijayawada; Koheda Surendar(27) S/o. Sri Hari, R/o: Hyderabad; Shaik Saidulu(28) S/o. Sk. Subhan, R/o:7 Brahmmamgari Colony, Pandurangapuram, Khammam. He assisted in providing SIM cards & Mobile Phones; Anumolu Saidulu(28) S/o brahamam R/o: Boddipodi colony village, Wyra Mandal khamam district; Prasanna R/o. Nellore, A.P is not examined.
The police seized Net Cash of Rs.45.10 Lakhs, Cell Phones (13), SIM cards – (08), One Ertiga Car, One Honda Activa Bike, One Brief Case which was used in the commission of offence to divert the attention of victim, and One Black color bag containing color paper bundles seized from the complainant
Modus Operandi: The accused Mahesh is the main conspirator for the offence. He is residing at Vidya Nagar, Nallakunta, Hyderabad along with his family members and eking livelihood by working as real estate broker likewise the complainant is also working as real estate broker and he came in contact with the complainant.
One Riyaz alias Anil is native of Narsampet, Warangal, who is residing at LB Nagar is a friend of Mahesh. About one month back Riyaz informed to Mahesh that, he has one contact Vanesh Kumar Raji Reddy at Bapatla, who is expert and member in diverting attention gang who cheats the gullible people by showing the fake gold as original gold and collecting huge amounts. If they joined with Vanesh Kumar they can earn huge amounts in a short period and promised to give good share amount and also shared some videos of gold through WhatsApp to Mahesh.
Accordingly, Mahesh agreed to the plan of Riyaz and started searching for parties who are interested to purchase the gold. About 15 days back Mahesh met with the complainant Venkateshwara Rao and shown the videos of gold and told that one of his known persons are having 1.5 Kg gold, they wish to sell at cheap rate at the rate of 40 lakhs per one KG Gold.
Believing the words of Mahesh, the victim Venkateshwara Rao agreed to purchase 1.5 kg gold at Rs. 40 lakhs per Kg (Total Rs. 60 lakhs) and informed that the total cash will be arranged. On 20.9.2022 Mahesh informed the same to Riyaz. In turn Riyaz alias Anil informed the same matter to Vanesh Kumar alias Raja Reddy.Then Vanesh Kumar alias Raja Reddy passed the same matter to his friend Karri Kanakaraju alias Kanaka Rao alias Stephen Raju R/o of Vizag who is expert in exchange of Cash bags by diverting the attention of people. Vanesh also informed the same to his associates Ravi and Prasanna. Accordingly, all the accused hatched a plan and 2 days prior to the commission of offence Vanesh Kumar, Karri Kanaka Raju, Ravi and Prasanna reached Hyderabad and met Mahesh and Riyaz at Vidyanagar and all together stayed at Mahesh house at Vidya Nagar and were waiting to execute the plan.
On 20.9.2022 morning hours all the accused reached at Dilsukhnagar Metro Station Mahesh contacted the victim over phone and told that two persons will come to you and hand over the Gold by taking the cash and told the victim accepted the same. On the directions of Mahesh, the accused Karri Kanaka Raju and Prasanna went to victim’s house by an Auto with a brief case and went in to the house of the victim and asked to show the cash, they counted the cash and kept in a small bag and kept in the suitcase. Then the accused Kanaka Raju and Prasanna talked to the victim about his family, business etc. and told that he is lucky to get the Gold at such a cheap rate and also informed that the person who brought 1.5 Kg Gold is waiting at the Metro Station, then by putting the victim busy he changed the direction of the suitcase and told the victim that he will get the gold with in few minutes and to keep the locked cash bag with him till they arrive and left the place. When the accused persons didn’t turn up the victim called to Mahesh but his mobile was switched off. Then he got suspicion and opened the locked bag and found the colour paper bundles instead of cash. Thus, the accused cheated the victims and took away Rs.60 lakhs.
The other accused Mahesh, Riyaz alias Anil, Surrender, Uduta Ravi were waiting at Dilsukhnagar Metro Station and the accused Shaik Saidulu, Anumolu Saidulu provided new phones, sim cards to the main conspirator Mahesh and Riayz.
The suit case which was used in the commission of offence was having two partitions the accused Karri Kanaka Raju kept the cash in a small bag and kept in the suit case and he kept colour paper bundles in a similar bag, locked it and placed in another cabin (partition of the suitcase) and gave him the colour papers bundles locked bag and escaped from the scene.

Ravi Babu, Detective Inspector, Saroor Nagar Police Station., Sub-Inspectors Mr. A.A. Raju and K. Prathap Reddy and Police personnel of Saroornagar Police Station and SOT, LB Nagar Zone, Rachakonda.
