GUWAHATI: In a combined action taken by the Assam and Delhi Police, the personal from the police department succeeded in foiling an ISIS terror module which was planning to execute attacks in Assam and Goalpara. This was possible as the police managed to trace the digital footprint of the accused.
Police sources said that this ISIS-inspired terror module was self-extremist, and the police have taken their profile by using their social media posts and activities.
The Police personnel comprising of a team of the special cell of Delhi Police and Assam Police have arrested three people from Assam’s Goalpara district. The police said that the arrested accused were about to plant an IED during the on-going Raas festival in Dudhnoi area.
The arrested accused have been identified as Luit Zameel Zaman, Mukadir Islam, and Ranjeet Islam. The Police conducted the interrogation on the accused and the details were delivered by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Special Cell, Delhi Police.
Mr. Pramod Singh Kushwaha, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Special Cell, Delhi Police said that the accused had planned a blast in Delhi. But before that was executed they had a plan of carrying out a blast at the Dudhnoi Rasleela Mela in Assam as a rehearsal.
The recovered IED by the police is similar to the one that was used in the Ujjain train blast on March 7, 2017.
