Kerala: The Kerala Armed Police 5th Battalion has been acknowledged for its involvement in various social service sanitation activities and its support to local law enforcement in the state. The battalion has been awarded the ISO 9001:2015 certificate in appreciation of its outstanding contributions, ranging from nationwide election duty implementation to special operations, disaster relief, rescue efforts, accident coordination, waste disposal operations, green law enforcement, and anti-drug awareness initiatives. Under the leadership of a Superintendent (SP)-rank commandant, 770 police officers serve at the KAP 5th Battalion in Kuttikanam, Idukki district. The battalion operates on a vast 273.24-acre area, providing both physical facilities and training. Additionally, detachment camps are active in Munnar, Maniyar, Erumeli, and Kottayam. Since its establishment in 2013, the High-Altitude Training Center operates as part of the 5th Battalion. Assistant Commandant Mr. PO Roy received the recognition during a ceremony at the battalion headquarters, with ISO Director Mr. N Sreekumar presenting the award.
