CHENNAI, SEPTEMBER 5: A total number of 23 cell phones, 15 SIM cards, 13 cell phone chargers, 685 gm of ganja and cash Rs 1,500 were seized by jail officials in the last two months following searches. Jail officials intensified their drive against the use of contrabands in nine Central prison premises following a claim by actress Radha that she received a threat call from a history sheeter lodged inside Puzhal prison, where use of cell phones are strictly banned. After preliminary enquiry one grade II warder T K Prasad of Puzhal prison has been placed under suspension. During the raids recently, raid teams seized two mobile phones and two SIM cards from a remand prisoner T Madhan at Puzhal jail while another mobile phone was unearthed from quarantine block in Prison II in Puzhal. A jail source said, “The phone in the quarantine block was buried in the ground. It was found after certain areas on the ground looked suspicious and digging was ordered”. In a press release cash worth Rs 500 was seized from a life convict M Elango, said prison chief and additional director general of police Mr. Vijay Kumar. Police arrest threat caller On September 5 Police arrested Anthony Raj (28), for making a threat call to actress Radha posing as history sheeter Vairam from Puzhal prison. Police said it was the driver of a film producer Munivel, with whom the actress had a relationship, who had made the threat call. Anthony Raj, who was arrested by Police has been identified as resident of Chengalpet and he has confessed to his crime. It is now clear that the actress had received a threat call and the caller had only used the criminal’s name.]]>
