In a seven-hour joint operation five gangsters were arrested at Chak Jhandu village near Bhogpur town on Tuesday. Police on receiving information about wanted criminals hiding in the village conducted raid to nab them.
Jalandhar Senior Superintendent of Police Mr. Swarandeep Singh IPS said the operation was jointly carried out by the Punjab Police and the Delhi Police special cell.
The action was taken based on a piece of confidential information received by Phillaur station house office Mr. Surinder Kumar. On the information the police raided the gangsters’ hideout, which led to an exchange of fire. The accused fired at the police team for which the Police also retaliated he said.
In order to locate the gangsters the police used drones to locate the gangsters who were hiding in sugarcane fields. Two of the five gangsters were wanted by the Delhi Police. Three weapons were seized from the accused. The police are yet to reveal particulars of the arrested men.
