Andhra Pradesh, Kakinada: Kakinada District SP, Sri Vikrant Patil, IPS, held a monthly crime review meeting with the police officers of Kakinada District at the District Police Office. In this meeting, he emphasized the need for comprehensive preventive measures to curb incidents such as murder, crimes against women, financial crimes, cybercrimes, and marijuana trafficking. Discussions included strategies to reduce road safety hazards, enhance safety around Diwali fireworks, prevent fire accidents, and increase night patrols to deter theft. Specific conflicts were addressed, and suggestions were made to improve local policing practices.
A key recommendation was to maintain heightened surveillance of known offenders to proactively prevent theft and looting, with an emphasis on increased night patrols. Additionally, it was announced that women’s safety vehicles would soon be introduced to provide regular patrols near educational institutions, parks, and other areas frequently visited by women, offering them enhanced security.
The authorities were also directed to focus on the rising incidence of cybercrimes. It was clarified that “digital arrest” is not recognized under current law. Citizens receiving cybercrime-related calls were advised to report to the nearest police station or contact 1930 for assistance.
The meeting was attended by Kakinada and Peddapuram DSPs, Circle Inspectors, Station House Officers, DCRB, DTRB, IT Core, and other CIs.
