Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh: Demonstrating strong commitment to road safety, the Kakinada District Police have intensified accident-prevention measures through innovative and proactive policing, particularly during night patrols across the district.
As part of the “STOP – WASH & GO” initiative, vehicles travelling long distances are being halted during night patrols, allowing fatigued drivers to refresh themselves by washing their faces with water before continuing their journey. Simultaneously, drunk-and-drive checks, action against improperly parked heavy vehicles, and inspections of suspicious vehicles are being carried out to ensure safer roads.
These measures are being implemented under the guidance of Kakinada District Superintendent of Police Sri G. Bindu Madhav, IPS, in line with the directions of the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Sri N. Chandrababu Naidu, aimed at significantly reducing road accidents in the state.
Taking innovation a step further, under the leadership of Peddapuram Sub-Divisional Police Officer Sri D. Srihari Raju, Prohibition CI Sri B. Surya Apparao, and the Annavaram Police, a unique awareness initiative has been launched on National Highway–216. Accident-damaged vehicles fitted with radium reflective stickers have been placed along the roadside to visually alert motorists about the dangers of over speeding and negligent driving.
Through this creative approach, the police are urging motorists to remain alert, avoid over speeding, and ensure safe journeys. Local residents and road users have widely appreciated and congratulated the Annavaram Police for their forward-thinking initiative, which is expected to play a vital role in reducing accidents in 2026 and beyond.
The Kakinada District Police reaffirm their dedication to saving lives and making highways safer through innovation, enforcement, and public cooperation.
