Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, June 5: In a compassionate gesture reflecting solidarity within the police force, Kakinada District Superintendent of Police, Sri Bindu Madhav, IPS, handed over financial assistance cheques to the families of Home Guards K. Mani Raju (HG 145) and M.V.G. Krishna (HG 404), who recently passed away while serving in the Kakinada District Police.
As part of a unique initiative titled “Cheyuta” (Support), home guards across the district voluntarily contributed their one-day duty allowance to extend help to the bereaved families. The initiative garnered overwhelming participation, with ₹4,51,560/- collected from 636 General Home Guards and ₹2,00,220/- from 282 Deputation Home Guards. These contributions were formally handed over today at the District Police Office.
Additionally, medical assistance cheques worth ₹10,000 each from the Central Welfare Fund were also given to HG 951 and HG 161.
Speaking on the occasion, SP Bindu Madhav, IPS, commended the collective spirit of the home guards, stating: “Such acts of unity and voluntary support strengthen the bond among police personnel and reassure our families that we stand by them in times of need.”
He further reiterated his commitment to the welfare of home guards and their families, appreciating the noble initiative which reflects the selfless service and camaraderie within the police fraternity.
RI M. Narasimhamurthy and several home guard representatives also participated in the event, which served as a poignant reminder of the department’s collective responsibility towards its personnel and their families.
