North & Middle Andaman: On 07.10.2024, Kalighat Police Station received a complaint from Mr. Shadev Uraon, a resident of Kalighat, regarding theft of significant quantity of areca nuts from his property. Responding swiftly, the Kalighat Police registered an FIR under the relevant sections of the BNS-2023 and promptly launched a thorough investigation.
Acting swiftly, a team led by SI Ashok Kumar Baghel, SHO of Kalighat Police Station, and comprising ASI Mucheray Munda, PCs Irenious, and Hazrat Kumar, was quickly formed. By leveraging both manual efforts and technical surveillance, the team identified the suspect, Roni Biswas, S/o Mr. Nimai Biswas 24 years, R/o Nabagram, within hours. The suspect attempted to flee the district but was apprehended at Kadamtala, with the assistance of the Kadamtala police team, before escaping.
Following all legal formalities, the suspect was enquired in connection with the theft. During the enquiry, the accused confessed that he has committed the crime. Further, the stolen property has been recovered and the investigation of the case is in progress. The swift resolution of this case, within hours, highlights the dedication and efficiency of Kalighat Police Station in safeguarding the rights and property of its citizens.
The search operation and the investigation was conducted under the supervision of Mr. Ankesh Yadav, DANIPS, SDPO Diglipur and overall direction and supervision of Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, Superintendent of Police, North & Middle Andaman District.
