Anantapuram: Deyyam Siva Reddy, a farmer and owner of the Sri Mokshan drinking water plant in Kandukuru village, Anantapuram rural mandal, was murdered on March 30, 2018, around 5:30 PM. While returning home on a motorcycle with his son, carrying a bag of grass, he was attacked and killed by several individuals from the same village due to personal disputes. He died on the spot. Following a complaint from his son, a case was registered against the suspects in 2018. Police arrested the individuals, conducted an investigation, and filed charges against 12 people under the IPC and Arms Act.
The Anantapuram District Sessions Court found seven of the accused guilty and sentenced them to double life imprisonment, along with a fine of \Rs.30,000 each. The remaining accused were acquitted due to lack of evidence. All those convicted were known rowdy-sheeters. DGP Mr. Dwaraka Tirumala Rao IPS praised the Anantapur Police for their dedicated efforts and effective trial monitoring, leading to the conviction of the accused.
