Kanpur: A student studying in Class 12 did not return home after school on Monday. His dead body was found near the railway track in Chakeri area of Kanpur, police said.
The student who went missing is Ronit Sarkar. His body was found in the bushes near the tracks about a kilometer from his house.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) [East] Mr. Brijesh Srivastava IPS said the 18-year-old student’s death was being treated as murder. Mr, Srivastava said the spot where Ronit Sarkar’s body was found, was at an isolated spot near the tracks.
The student’s body has been sent for post-mortem, the police said, The Police said “On Tuesday, we were informed about a body in the Cantonment forest area. The school bag was on his shoulders”. On not finding Ronit Sarkar after the search the family filed a missing complaint with the police.
Mr. Srivastava said five teams have been set to trace the accused. A rickshaw puller who usually picked up Ronit Sarkar and his friends from school to take them home is being questioned for clues to establish the sequence of events, he added.
