Kerala, Kasaragod, April 26, 2025: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Kasaragod police seized 11.785 kilograms of ganja and 10.53 grams of MDMA during extensive inspections across the district. The operation was carried out under the direct instructions of Kannur Range DIG Shri Yatish Chandra G.H., IPS, and the leadership of District Police Chief Shri Vijay Bharat Reddy, IPS.
The inspections were systematically led by DYSPs of Kasaragod, Bekal, and Kanhangad subdivisions, targeting suspected locations based on confidential intelligence inputs.
In a major breakthrough, within Melparamba Police Station limits, a police team raided the residence of Sameer and Muneer in Bara, Mukkunnoth, seizing 11.190 kilograms of ganja. The accused fled the scene, and a vigorous manhunt is currently underway. The operation was led by Inspector Santhosh Kumar A. and Sub-Inspector Aneesh V.K.
In the Hosdurg Police Station limits, two successful operations were conducted:
In the first, 1.790 grams of MDMA and 5.950 grams of hybrid ganja were seized from the residence of Naushad of Ajanur Kadappuram, who is now absconding.
In the second, 3.610 grams of MDMA were seized from Shahjahan Abubakar (69) of Muriyanavi, Kanhangad.
Both operations were effectively led by Hosdurg Inspector Ajith Kumar M. and Sub-Inspector Mohanan.
At Kasaragod Town Police Station limits, Mohammed Suraid (26) of Adukkathbayal was apprehended at Chowki with 5.13 grams of MDMA. The operation was led by Sub-Inspector Ansar N.
These inspections are part of the ongoing “Operation D-Hunt,” launched on February 22, 2025, to aggressively combat drug crimes. Since the operation’s inception, 432 cases have been registered, and 447 accused have been arrested. A total of 13.185 kilograms of ganja and 188.16 grams of MDMA have been seized, demonstrating the relentless efforts of the Kasaragod police in building a drug-free district.
The police have reaffirmed their commitment to continuing such strong action to dismantle drug networks and safeguard the community, urging the public to cooperate by reporting any suspicious activities.
