The Paul Blood initiative by Kerala Police aims to foster a culture of voluntary blood donation and social commitment in society, while also providing timely blood assistance during emergencies. This pioneering effort in India utilizes a dedicated mobile app, available on Playstore and Appstore, allowing blood donors and recipients to register and participate. Presently, there are 41,520 registered blood donors, with the highest number hailing from Thiruvananthapuram district at 9,157. Collaborating with the Kerala State AIDS Control Society, Paul Blood ensures both care and protection, delivering blood to those in need. When registering, donors provide information such as name, blood group, contact number, and last day of donation, while recipients specify the patient’s name, blood group, required amount, timing, treating hospital details, district, and contact number.
On the occasion of World Voluntary Blood Donation Day, Paul Blood AIDS Control Society, in conjunction with RCC, Medical College, Sreechitra, Mega Blood Donation Camp, Disha College Union 2023, and Government College of Nursing Alappuzha, is organizing a blood donation challenge across more than 20 nursing colleges in Kerala. Since its inception in 2021, this service has facilitated the provision of 24,910 units of blood to 18,638 individuals.
