Kerala: The Kerala police while creating awareness about online fraud said banking, insurance companies and mobile service providers collect KYC (Know your Customers) to verify customer information. Recently online there have also been reports of fraudulent groups sending fake messages in the name of this to defraud people and extort money. Submit KYC information to the institutions either directly or through official channels. The Safety Precautions that need to be followed are as follows:

Always view spam calls, emails, and SMS with suspicion. Do not handle carelessly.

Do not share credit/debit card details, OTP, and PIN numbers with anyone claiming to be a customer care executive.

Never give banking/card details in the online form provided through the links. Your documents may be stolen.

The screen share app will be sent by the fraudster under the name of KYC Verification Application. This will give them access to your phone and you will be a victim of fraud. So make sure the applications you are installing are authentic.

It is also possible to transfer money from your account to the fake online digital wallet/accounts you install through links sent by fraudsters.

Never click on links in phishing messages/emails that seem to come from government organizations, officials, banks, etc. They may install fake apps on your mobile phone.

Do not scan the fake QR code sent for verification. Those ones may be available for payment.8. Be careful. See that you don’t lose money from your account.
