Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Police has given awareness about the high-security number plates that are fixed on vehicles. The Police said to note that is your vehicle is after March 31, 2019? Then pay attention to these things about the high-security number plate.
Since last year, high-security number plates have been mandatory on new vehicles on the streets. Dealers attach such plates to vehicles that cannot be replaced and cannot be moved.
In this day and age when vehicles are widely used for criminal activities, the high-security registration number plate is just as important as the vehicle itself. It is a serious crime to stir it up and make illegal changes.
Note the instructions given by the Department of Motor Vehicles regarding the High-Security Number Plate. From April 1, 2019, the High-Security Registration Plate (HSRP) is mandatory on all vehicles.
The High-Security Registration Plate (HSRP) for these vehicles must be provided to you by the vehicle dealer free of charge and attached to the vehicle. It is mounted on the vehicle by means of a rivet fitting that cannot be removed. It is to be noted that the dealer must attach to the customer.
Two-wheelers have two HSRPs at the front and rear. On the other hand, cars and other vehicles will have a third number plate/sticker on the windscreen in addition to these two. You will see a separate serial number on the front and back number plates. This will be recorded separately at the vehicle site.
The HSRP implanted in one vehicle should not be stirred or implanted in other vehicles for any reason. If the HSRP is damaged due to accidents or any other reasons, you can return the damaged HSRP at the dealership and buy a new HSRP. There is a price to pay for this. It is the responsibility of the respective dealer / HSRP issuing agency to keep records with evidence of such damaged HSRPs and to include this information on the vehicle site. If only one HSRP is damaged in the two-wheeler, only that one can be returned and replaced. Just pay the price for that one.
Vehicles and other vehicles can be replaced with a number plate only if required. However, in such a case, you have to buy a third number plate/sticker to be affixed on the windscreen along with one of them. The third number plate/sticker can only be replaced if it is damaged.
In any case, if such a number plate is lost, the information should be immediately reported to the police and an FIR should be registered. The new High-Security Registration Number Plate will be issued only if a copy of the FIR is submitted.
