Kollam Rural, Kerala, June 26: Marking International Anti-Drug Day, the Kollam Rural District Police organized a district-wide series of impactful awareness programs, placing children and community engagement at the heart of their campaign.
In a remarkable show of coordination and commitment, anti-drug pledges were administered in all schools, setting the tone for a day filled with creative and educational activities. Students actively participated in badminton competitions, painting and poster-making contests, street dramas, flash mobs, and awareness classes held in collaboration with other departments. Special sessions were also conducted for teachers, parents, and the general public at libraries and public venues, spreading a strong message against drug abuse.
The initiative was driven by the full strength of the Kollam Rural Police system, including SPG, SPC, Janamaithri, and Child-Friendly Police units, under the supervision of District Police Chief Mr. Sabu Mathew K.M., IPS.
The badminton tournament held at the Academy of Badminton, Kummil, Kadakkal, was formally inaugurated by the Hon’ble District Police Chief, while the prize distribution was carried out by Additional SP Mr. Shanihan A.R. Other dignitaries present included DySP M.M. Jose (District Crime Branch), SHO Rajesh (Kadakkal Police Station), and DANSAF SI Jyotish Chiravur (Kottarakkara Sub-Division).
