Thrissur Rural: After seeing the advertisement for part-time job through Facebook, the complainant contacted him through messenger, joined the Telegram group called 20058record breaker and registered on the website www.Droom-memberguest.com. He was given online tasks and on taking the trust of the complainant the accused Muhammad Shafiq 31/24 s/o Abdul Samad, Atthimanil House, Poongode Land Vellayur Village, Irshad 33/24, S/O Muhammad, Kurunkannan Veedu, Anchuchuvad Desam, Vellayur Village, extorted money from the complainant. The peculiarity of this case is that all those who contacted the complainant online are Malayalis. In the investigation conducted on the basis of the complainant calling 1930 and registering on the NCRP portal, 53 ATM cards, 5 SIM cards belonging to many others, 5 mobile phones, 5 mobile phones and a Mahendra XUV car used by the accused were seized from the accused holding bank accounts for online fraud. On the instructions of Thrissur Rural District Police Chief Mr. Navneet Sharma IPS, Chalakudy DYSP K Sumesh led Koratti SHO Amritarangan and SCPOs Nitish and Sajeesh were in the team that nabbed the accused. The accused were produced before the Bahu Chalakudy First Class Magistrate Court and the court remanded the accused for 14 days.
