Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu: In a significant operation aimed at curbing illegal smuggling, the Krishnagiri District Police intercepted a vehicle transporting banned items at the Jujuwadi check post under the Sipcot Police Station limits.
During a routine vehicle inspection, alert police personnel stopped a suspicious vehicle and uncovered a large haul of contraband. Upon inspection, they found banned tobacco products valued at ₹3,91,680 and liquor worth ₹3,600, both prohibited under Tamil Nadu state law. The items were reportedly smuggled in from another state.
Acting swiftly, the police arrested the individual involved, seized the smuggled goods along with the vehicle, and registered a case. The accused was later remanded to judicial custody.
This successful interception underscores the vigilance and commitment of Krishnagiri Police in preventing the illegal influx of banned substances into the state and upholding public safety.
