North and Middle Andaman: In a relentless pursuit against the illicit trade of narcotic drugs in North & Middle Andaman District, the Kalighat Police Station’s team seized 85 grams and apprehended one individual. On 21/10/2023, following credible information, a police squad led by SI Shilpi Singha, the SHO of PS Kalighat, along with HCs Ashok Sammadar & Sumangala and PCs Ranjit Biswas, Sushil Sarkar, Melody Arthur, Niti Singh, and HC (Driver) N. Rupesh Kumar conducted a raid in the Kishori Nagar area. This operation was carried out under the close supervision of Mr. Brij Mohan Meena, DANIPS, SDPO Diglipur. They discovered 85 grams of ganja at the accused’s residence and followed the necessary legal procedures outlined in the NDPS Act for its seizure. Consequently, the accused, identified as Lila Debi, widow of Late Kannai Dutta, 46 years old, residing in Kishori Nagar, was charged under the relevant section of the NDPS Act. The entire operation was conducted under the direct oversight of Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, SP (D) N&MA.
