Tamil Nadu, Dindigul: A legal aid committee for children has been established by the District Legal Services Commission, following directives from the Hon’ble National and State Legal Services Commissions. The committee operates within the Dindigul District Court premises and includes retired judges, secretaries, advocates, legal volunteers, and representatives from the District Legal Services Committee of Palani, Ottanchathram, Vedasanthur, Natham, Nilakottai, Attur, and Kodaikanal.
A training program on the legal aid scheme for children was conducted under the leadership of Hon’ble District Chief Judge and Chairman, Muthusaradha. Key participants included retired District Judge Elango, POCSO Judge Velmurugan, Special Sessions Judge Muralitharan (SC/ST Court), Family Court Judge Vijayakumar, Mahila Judge Saran, Chief Judicial Magistrate Kanagaraj, Additional Sessions Judge Deepa, Additional Civil Judge Rengaraj, and Soumya Mathew of Criminal Court No. 1.
During the program, District Principal Judge Muthusaradha addressed the attendees, emphasizing the importance of children’s legal rights and equal treatment for boys and girls. The Judge also stressed the need for balanced parenting with love and discipline, alongside vigilance in protecting girls from sexual harassment.
Held on 22.11.2024, the event saw the participation of over 80 committee members and young lawyers. The training program ran from morning to evening and is scheduled to continue on 25.11.2024. The event commenced with a welcome address delivered by Triveni, Secretary of the District Legal Services Commission.
